Joseph Hopkins | Bexley

I became a Public Governor representing our Public members who live in the Bexley borough in 2018. I was previously a Service User/Carer Governor representing Adult Community Health Services.

My experiences of living with mental health and disability with my family, friends and myself for many years, inspired me to help more people in similar situations to move positively forward.

I first joined Oxleas as a patient volunteer in 2009. I’m a member of ‘Research Net’, looking at various services to help improve service delivery and patient care through Experience Based Co-Design (EBCD).

I enjoy contributing towards making a difference in Oxleas on all levels, to hear all viewpoints, ideas and to offer insights, help and support both respectfully and in a non-judgemental way.

I also enjoy participating in all types of meetings, trust activities, working with people from different backgrounds and cultures, connecting and making a real difference.

I have a variety of interests, most of which centre around mental health and associated issues.

I’m a Bexley College Student Representative to strategic management and I attend MIND, often to offer support with their community-based initiatives.
