Our Board is chaired by Andy Trotter and is made up of non-executive and executive directors. There are up to 15 voting members. They are:

Our Senior Independent Director is Jo Stimpson.

We aim for our Board of Directors to reflect the population we serve and, as vacancies arise, we review the make-up of the board to ensure we have the right balance of skills and experience.

The Board of Directors and Council of Governors work closely together. The directors run the trust’s services and develop strategies and plans for the future. Directors are accountable for meeting national standards, performance targets and financial requirements. They report to the membership through the Council of Governors on the running and performance of the trust.

The governors agree the strategic direction of the trust and represent the views of the trust’s members. A report from the Council of Governors is a standing item on the Board of Directors’ agenda and the Chair of the trust chairs both the Council of Governors and the Board of Directors.

Suzanne Shale | Non-executive Director

Suzanne Shale | Non-executive Director

Professor Suzanne Shale is an independent ethics consultant, working with a diverse range of organisations across health and social care, the third sector, and the criminal justice system.

She has a long-standing interest in patient and service user experience of their health conditions, health care, and health care harm, and has published research in all of these areas, as well as leading collaborative projects in service improvement.

She is a Member of the General Medical Council, chairs the London Policing Ethics Panel and is a member of the National Policing Ethics Committee. Associated with her work in policing ethics, she is a Visiting Professor at the Department of Security and Crime Science, University College London. Previous roles include having been a member of the Independent Reconfiguration Panel advising on NHS service reorganisations, chairing the national charity Action against Medical Accidents, and chairing a not-for-profit mental health provider.
